Northamptonshire: Statistics, Sketches and Notes (Monograph)

My father wrote the first comprehensive history of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club – a book that will be republished in July 2017. In this the seventh monograph in the series I have paired biographical sketches of Roger Prideaux and J.E. ‘Jack’ Timms with other pieces linked by the ‘Northamptonshire’ theme. Roger Prideaux probably ought to have played more time for England than he did – but he he was contemporary of Geoffrey Boycott, John Edrich and others. Coming to Northants from Kent he opened the batting for many seasons with Colin Milburn, forming the most daunting of partnerships with that flawed giant. Jack Timms played in a much weaker, inter-way County side, a stalwart in a team which forgot ow to win in the mid to latter thirties. He earned Test Trial early in his career but international honours were never came his way for a fascinating cricketer aptly known as a ‘Cavalier even in defeat’. Purchasers of the paperback version of this monograph will be able to download the e-book free of charge.
